Rice is the major crop of Nepal as well as Ilam District. Rice is planted in Ashadh-Shrawan(June-July).When farmers finish the plantation of rice there will be a festival called ropai jatra. It is a musical cultural programme in which girls dance in such a way that as if they are planting rice.
